Computer maker Dell Inc. has eliminated 260 jobs at its Forsyth County plant because of the downturn in the economy, company officials told city leaders on Monday.
Dell reported to the Winston-Salem City Council's finance committee that it now has 1,140 workers after two rounds of layoffs in the past two months. The news came after Dell had previously refused to give specific numbers on each of the layoffs nor say how many they currently employ in North Carolina.
